Our featured wine of the week:
Lady Hill 2012 Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir – Here’s the latest new release from Jerry Owen of the Owen Roe fame. This lovely 2012 vintage Pinot Noir is true to its expression of the Freedom Hill Vineyard out near the coast range town of Sheridan. The wine displays lovely aromas of cherry cola and shows flavors of dark cherries, red berries, exotic spices, a light earth note and a well balanced hint of cranberry on the finish. New Northwest Arrivals...

  • Harper Voit 2013 Surlie Pinot Blanc – Aromas of white apricots and peaches, yellow plums, and savory herbs open on this opulent-yet-balanced Pinot Blanc. Stony acidity cuts through, and fleshy fruit is finely-tuned. Complex and rich on the palate, this is not a shy wine. This is one of the best Pinot Blanc’s we’ve tasted this year!
  • Winderlea 2012 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir – Immediately shows bright cranberry and red cherry fruit along with notes of fennel and caraway seed. Left in the glass layers of cassis, lavender; cherry cola and anise appear and delight. The mouth feel is bright and well balanced with soft tannins. The finish is long and mouthwatering.
  • Winderlea 2012 Maresh Vineyard Pinot Noir – This Pinot captures your nose with baking spices, and red fruit from red plums to strawberries and red cherries. In the mouth bright red fruit explodes into a mouth watering combination of watermelon, cherry, rhubarb and gooseberries alongside notes of cloves, white pepper and orange zest. Nicely integrated acid and tannins combine with the fruit and floral notes.
  • Brooks 2012 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir – Vivid red. Fresh red berries, candied rose and Asian spices on the fragrant nose. Offers open-knit raspberry and cherry flavors and a tangy note of orange zest to add back-end cut. Closes on a brisk note, with good clarity and harmonious tannins. Lush and rich with fresh cranberry.
  • Lady Hill 2012 Freedom Hill Pinot Noir – Displays lovely aromas of cherry cola and shows flavors of dark cherries, red berries, exotic spices, a light earth note and a well balanced hint of cranberry on the finish.

Our featured gourmet food of the week: Villa Apolena Extra Vigin Olive Oil – Harvested from the plush olive groves in Cyrpus, this EVOO is masterfully crafted to preserve its delicacy. Fragrant, smooth and completely organic, it embodies a purity that will evoke the senses and entice the palate. Use it for bread dipping, salad dressing or everyday cooking. Now, through October 31, buy one and get one free!

The following is the article that appears in the magazine:
The Cellar on 10th, Astoria, Ore.; MIKE WALLIS' restaurant and cellar sits at the mouth of the Columbia, and the list runs as the Columbia does, seemingly with Washington and Oregon representations split down the middle. Those looking for current vintages certainly won't be disappointed. There are seven from Barnard Griffin on top of eight from Beaux Freres. Near the bottom, Winter's Hill is followed by Woodward Canyon. There's also B.C. representation with ice wines from Mission Hill and Inniskillin.
