New NW Arrivals...

  • Willful Wine Cellars 2012 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir – This Pinot Noir is done with Pommard and Dijon clones. Tart cherries and red raspberry are tinged with rose hip and cinnamon in the nose on a sappy palate that nicely balances invigorating tartness against incipient textural allure borne of ultra fine tannins. Absolutely delicious!
  • Willful Wine Cellars 2012 Cabernet Franc – The grapes from the Applegate Valley gives this wine a fruit-focused and elegant. The wine displays flavors of rich raspberries and blackberries, smoke, forest floor, and spice.
  • Trium 2013 Pinot Gris – A real rich style Gris from Southern Oregon. Creamy smoothness, tropical fruit flavors, ripe apples and pear, evolve to a palate with lively acidity and a delightfully balanced finish.
  • Trium 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon – Layered with ripe blackberries, strawberries, wet stone, and pipe tobacco. Raspberry and strawberry nuances lead into a touch of spice on the palate. These flavors continue through the surprisingly long finish.
  • Cristom 2013 Pinot Gris – Has bright citrus-blossom aromas that range from tangerine zest to lime blossom. Apple, pear and melon are the fruit flavors that are often noted on the palate. This is a bright and lively wine.

New International Arrivals...

  • Elio Atare 2012 Dolcetto d’Alba (Italy) – Purple red in color, this Dolcetto has an intense nose with fruity aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and blueberry. It is dry and soft on the palate, rich and pleasant in the mouth, with austere tannins and a clean, pleasant finish.
  • Billacart-Salmon NV Brut (France) – Its blend is made with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from three different years, sourced from the best sites in the Champagne region. Reflections of straw yellow, stands out by the finesse of its slowly rising bubbles. A full and accurate flavor combined with a fine freshness and a rich bouquet. This is a classic Champagne!
  • Billacart-Salmon NV Rose` Brut (France) – A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir vinified
as red wine. Its pale and bright pink color is adorned with warm glints of gold and it’s delicate slowly rising bubbles give it a persistent mousse. It unveils a subtle aroma leading to an elegant, delicate bouquet of fine notes of red fruits and zest of citrus fruits. A light, elegant flavor followed by a fresh finish with a taste of raspberry. This is one of the best Rose’ Champagnes from France! Highly Recommended.
  • Peter Lehmann 2012 “Portrait” Shiraz (Australia) – From the Barossa Valley in Australia. A deep color and a bouquet of dark fruits, plums and chocolate. This is a full bodied wine with soft, velvet tannins and a long finish
  • Peter Lehmann 2012 Clancy’s Red (91 pts WS) (Australia) – Shows blackcurrant and forest fruits and a touch of stylish oak in the background. The palate shows richness of fruit, and spice softly textured tannins and a long, flavorsome finish. A delightful blend of Shiraz and Cabernet from the Barossa Valley.

Our featured gourmet food of the week: Gil’s Gourmet Mild Chardonnay-Artichoke Salsa – A generous amount of marinated artichoke hearts, carrots, special blend of herbs and spices topped off with a splash of Chardonnay wine. This salsa is perfect as a warmed sauce to go over baked chicken or use it to dip your favorite chips.

The following is the article that appears in the magazine:
The Cellar on 10th, Astoria, Ore.; MIKE WALLIS' restaurant and cellar sits at the mouth of the Columbia, and the list runs as the Columbia does, seemingly with Washington and Oregon representations split down the middle. Those looking for current vintages certainly won't be disappointed. There are seven from Barnard Griffin on top of eight from Beaux Freres. Near the bottom, Winter's Hill is followed by Woodward Canyon. There's also B.C. representation with ice wines from Mission Hill and Inniskillin.
