Our featured wine of the week: Walter Scott 2014 Willametter Valley Pinot Noir – From a stunning vintage…here comes the 2014 Oregon Pinot Noir’s. This lovely Pinot is jam packed with aromas and flavors of rose petals, dark cherries, dark berries and exotic spices with a soft subtle touch of cranberry on the finish. Fruit for this wine is from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Recommended Food Pairings: A perfect wine to enjoy with your traditional Thanksgiving feast.

New Northwest Arrivals...

  • Ken Wright Cellars 2014 Latchkey Vineyard Pinot Noir – The Latchkey Vineyard Pinot Noir is the newest of Ken’s releases. The vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills AVA. Forward, tart and spicy with scents and flavors of black cherry cola right out front. The tangy red fruit is lifted with light citrus, buttressed with well-modulated tannins, and enhanced with beautiful undertones of moist earth, leaf and spice. Great structure, acidity and persistence.

  • Ken Wright Cellars 2014 Guadalupe Vineyard Pinot Noir – Raspberry and cherry fruit, pure and concentrated, introduces the wine aromatically and glides smoothly into the mid-palate. It tightens its focus and lingers gracefully, a mouthful of tart, primary, ripe and deliciously fresh fruit.

  • Ken Wright Cellars 2014 Bonnie Jean Vineyard Pinot Noir – Succulent scents and flavors of cherry liqueur, laced with marzipan and a whiff of earthiness define this 2nd release from this new single-vineyard selection. Tannins are thick and offer suggestions of tanned leather.

New International Arrivals...

  • Marie-Courtin NV Resonance Champagne Brut – Resonance emerges from the glass with deep layers of textured fruit. There is a pure energy and vibrancy. Sweet floral notes, dried pears, red berries, citrus and spices are all layered into the focused, taut finish and a richness that balances this champagne beautifully.

  • Marc Hebrart NV Blanc de Blancs Champagne Brut – Sleek with vibrant acidity from crisp apples and citrus, this firm, finely knit version offers a filigreed texture and a note of chalky minerality underscoring flavors of poached pear, whole grain toast, golden raisin and crystallized honey.

  • L. Aubry Fils NV Premier Cru Champagne Brut (90pts WS) – It's round and spicy, with a full body and generous flavors of nectarine and orange citrus. The mid-palate has hints of ginger, apples and lemongrass. The finish has fine length and depth, beckoning for another sip.

  • Vilmart & Cie NV Grand Cellier Champagne Brut (92pts WS) – On the nose, the champagne reveals white flower aromas of honeysuckle and lilac, citrus notes as well as fresh butter and cream. The champagne goes onto reveals spicy notes of ginger and lemongrass. The palate is lively with a delicate effervescence. The quality of the acidity throughout is especially remarkable. The roundness gives an impression of strength and freshness. The finish is clean, slightly mineral and long. The last aroma is the grapefruit and will leave a lasting impression.

Back in Stock...

  • Duche` de Longuerville NV French Sparkling Cider (non-alcoholic)

The following is the article that appears in the magazine:
The Cellar on 10th, Astoria, Ore.; MIKE WALLIS' restaurant and cellar sits at the mouth of the Columbia, and the list runs as the Columbia does, seemingly with Washington and Oregon representations split down the middle. Those looking for current vintages certainly won't be disappointed. There are seven from Barnard Griffin on top of eight from Beaux Freres. Near the bottom, Winter's Hill is followed by Woodward Canyon. There's also B.C. representation with ice wines from Mission Hill and Inniskillin.
