Our featured wine of the week: Namaste` 2013 Peace: A summertime favorite white from the Northwest. Blended from equal 1/3 parts Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. The wine has a nose with tropical and honeysuckle aromas, that evolve with flavors of apples, tropical fruits, nougat, honeysuckle spice to arouse your palate with a well balanced finish of soft citrus and some light mineral notes. A great summer sipper. Food Pairing Suggestions: An excellent pairing to fresh seafood, light salads, poultry and white meat dishes.

New Northwest Arrivals...

  • Abacela 2014 Albarino – An assertive, dry wine characterized by beautiful floral and citrus aromas with flavors of pear, apple and citrus. The finish is mouth coating with refreshing acidity.

  • Chateau Bianca Northwest Comfort – This is the perfect wine to make Sangria! Following an Old World Recipe (Gluwein), this wine is sweet with subtle hints of cinnamon and clove and made from Pinot Noir.

  • Winderlea 2013 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir – A bright ruby red color, this pretty and sassy wine shows great red fruit of cherries, strawberries and cranberries on the nose and follows through on the palate. Delicious layers of red fruit combine with subtle savory notes to create a silky wine that is ready to drink and enjoy now or cellar for a decade.

  • Winderlea 2012 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir – On the nose this wine shows layers of red fruit like red plums, rhubarb, strawberry and currants. Coupled with those red notes are a variety of perfumed herbal touches of rose hips, lavender and dried flowers. There are also spice elements layered into the wine of anise and allspice as well as hints of spiced tea. This is classic Shea vineyard from an exceptional vintage.

  • Syncline 2014 Rose` – This Rose` is Mourvedre, Cinsault and Grenache. The color is a striking pale salmon pink with aromas and flavors of tart strawberries and melon skin. On the palate, this wine is a mouthful of juicy strawberry, pomegranate, cherry, and candied watermelon. Finishing completely dry, this is as serious as Rosé gets.

New International Arrivals...

  • Casanova di Neri 2010 Tenuta Nuova Brunello (Italy)(96pts WS) – Ruby red with garnet reflections. Hints of Maraschino cherries, violets and red fruits. Great finesse in the mouth with a tannin still young yet with great quality. Long, elegant and persistent. This is the ultimate collectors dream!

  • Casanova di Neri 2010 Brunello (Italy)(94 pts WS) – A big, opulent pleasure bomb with lavish layers, loaded thickly on top of each other. Chocolate fudge, dark cherry, blackberry preserves, rum cake, prune, exotic spice, pipe tobacco, cola, hummus and leather. Huge personality and intensity. Staying power too. All that density is backed by solid tannins and a steady firmness.

  • Fattoria del Cerro 2013 Chianti Colli Senesi (Italy) – A light and fragrant red wine, eclectic and easy to drink. It has a very vivid ruby red color with slight purplish hues. The aroma is fruity with hints of wild black cherry, cherry and a delicate balsamic and dusty earth to round out a semi-dry finish. The flavor is soft and however full bodied and with good persistence. A great everyday value

We have Pizza stones in various sizes, round and square as well as individual pizza stones. The following is the article that appears in the magazine:
The Cellar on 10th, Astoria, Ore.; MIKE WALLIS' restaurant and cellar sits at the mouth of the Columbia, and the list runs as the Columbia does, seemingly with Washington and Oregon representations split down the middle. Those looking for current vintages certainly won't be disappointed. There are seven from Barnard Griffin on top of eight from Beaux Freres. Near the bottom, Winter's Hill is followed by Woodward Canyon. There's also B.C. representation with ice wines from Mission Hill and Inniskillin.
