Our featured wine of the week: Domaine Drouhin 2014 Roserock Chardonnay – On the nose, there is a hint of pear, quince, ripe citron, honeysuckle and pine needle. On the palate, the wine is round and fresh, with only faint oak presence, and excellent acidity without tartness. There is structure, balance, great texture and an elegant mid-palate, leading to a long finish. Recommended Food Pairings: Perfect to pair fresh seafood including scallops, shrimp, oysters and halibut.

New NW Arrivals...

  • Patton Valley 2015 Dry Riesling – (A North Coast Exclusive to The Cellar on 10th) Aromas of preserved lemon and green apple with hints of star anise, white pepper, and the faintest wisp of wood smoke. Flavors of Asian pear and lemon zest move over a deeper note of sea salt and chervil. The palate is defined by its lively core of acidity running the length of the wine and continuing to resonate in the long, slate laden finish. Only 15 cases were produced. Highly Recommended!

  • Patton Valley 2014 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir – This four-vineyard blend has all the hallmarks of their typical production. The aromas give an initial impression of fresh, bright red and black fruits, enhanced by subtle floral tones and an appealing touch of earthiness. The flavors follow the aromas with lively red and black cherry, currants, soft exotic spices and a hint of violets. The mid-palate is full of ripe fruit, framed by a touch of cranberry and round, well-integrated tannins.

  • J Scott Cellars 2015 Grenache Blanc – With white peaches and Pink Lady apples on the nose, the body has a distinct lightness to it, finishing with a refreshing crispness.

New Gourmet Food and Gift Arrivals...

  • 3 in 1 Potato Ricer – 3 different settings: Fine for fluffy mashed potatoes, turnips, carrots and gnocchi; Medium for spaetzli and pressing water out of cooked greens; and Coarse for chucky applesauce, egg salad and pressing tomatoes for sauce.

  • Oil Pourer with Flip Funnel – The stainless steel flap covers the spout when not in use. The built-in funnel makes it easier to fill the bottle without the mess.

The following is the article that appears in the magazine:
The Cellar on 10th, Astoria, Ore.; MIKE WALLIS' restaurant and cellar sits at the mouth of the Columbia, and the list runs as the Columbia does, seemingly with Washington and Oregon representations split down the middle. Those looking for current vintages certainly won't be disappointed. There are seven from Barnard Griffin on top of eight from Beaux Freres. Near the bottom, Winter's Hill is followed by Woodward Canyon. There's also B.C. representation with ice wines from Mission Hill and Inniskillin.
